Like the Sky

LIKE THE SKY

Written in August 2007

If I could taste the sky I would
A soft surrender to the wind
Hold me, like the sky beneath my wings
And we might fly away together

If I could offer you my hands I’d say, “here’s my love”
Don’t let go of me

And if I were a sailor
Your eyes would be my ocean
Hold me, like the sea pulls in the tides
And we might sail away together

And I will offer you my hands and say, “here’s my love”
Don’t let go of me

But now I’ve given you my heart
And I don’t have much left to give you

So I will offer you my life and say, “here’s my soul”
Let me surrender to your open arms
I only ask, “please take care of me”

If I could taste the sky I would
A soft surrender to the wind
Hold me, like the sky beneath my wings
And we might fly away together
